8"X 24" Bass Drum with Calf Skin Heads, Nickel over Brass Hardware, Chinese Wood Block, 12" Brass Spun Cymbal, Bass Drum Pedal with cymbal striker on beater post.. Drum head painting by L. H. Castro. Drum used for the ceili band supporting the American Association for the Recognition of the Irish Republic (AARIR) which operated between 1920 and 1932. The AARIR emerged after Eamon de Valera split with the Friends of Irish Freedom, an Irish American organization that supported the 1916 Easter Rising and raised money through the Irish Relief Fund to aid dependents who fought in the Rising. |
